Dr. Sebi’s Daughter and Grandson Dispel
the Myths and Share the Real Path to Healthy Living
Kellie and Izeah Bowman sat down with Rolling Out’s Reality Check to set the record straight on conspiracy theories, talk about the long-awaited documentary, and share the dietary philosophy that changed their family — and can change yours.
The internet has spent years building stories about Dr. Sebi — how he transitioned, why Nipsey Hussle was working on a documentary, whether powerful people wanted his teachings silenced. Some of those stories were built on grief. Some on genuine admiration. And some on pure speculation that spiraled far from the facts. In February 2020, Kellie and her son Izeah Bowman walked into Rolling Out’s studio and did something no one else could: they told the truth. Not the internet’s version. The family’s version.

The Reality Check interview covered everything — what actually happened in Honduras, the real story behind the documentary, and the one piece of health advice that matters more than any conspiracy theory: change what you eat. This blog post expands on what Kellie and Izeah shared in that conversation and connects it to the daily practice that makes their father’s and grandfather’s philosophy real and accessible.

The most persistent myth surrounding Dr. Sebi is that he was targeted and silenced — that his transition in August 2016 was the result of a conspiracy to stop his healing work. Kellie addressed this head-on with Rolling Out, and her answer was definitive.
“No. Let’s clear that up. If anyone wanted to kill him, they would’ve done it when he was in the middle of a controversy in the ’80s.”Kellie Bowman — Addressing conspiracy theories about Dr. Sebi’s transition
She was referring to 1987, when Dr. Sebi was arrested in New York and went to trial. That was the height of the controversy. That was the moment when his work was the most visible and the most threatening to the establishment — if the establishment had wanted to silence him. It did not happen then. And it did not happen in Honduras.
What did happen: Dr. Sebi was detained at an airport in Honduras in May 2016 and held in custody. He transitioned on August 6, 2016, from complications of pneumonia while being transported to a hospital. Those are the facts his daughter shared publicly — not to diminish his legacy, but to protect it from fiction that distracts from the work itself.
When people spend their energy debating how my father transitioned, they miss the point entirely. He spent his life teaching people how to live — what to eat, what to avoid, how to give the body what it needs. That is the legacy. Not a conspiracy theory. The work.
The Nipsey Hussle Documentary — Fact vs. Fiction
The second myth Kellie and Izeah addressed was the theory that Nipsey Hussle was murdered specifically to prevent the release of his documentary about Dr. Sebi. The rapper had been working on a film exploring Dr. Sebi’s healing work, and when Nipsey was tragically killed on March 31, 2019, conspiracy theories exploded online.
Izeah spoke directly to this: within three hours of Nipsey’s passing, the shooter was identified. The facts of the case made it clear that this was an act of localized violence, not a coordinated silencing operation. All the speculation, as Izeah put it, “went out the window.”
What the family wanted people to understand was this: Nipsey Hussle genuinely believed in Dr. Sebi’s work. He championed it publicly. He used his platform to bring attention to plant-based healing at a time when mainstream media largely ignored it. That advocacy was real, and it mattered. But turning his death into a conspiracy theory about Dr. Sebi does a disservice to both men.
After Nipsey Hussle’s passing, Nick Cannon took on the project and continued developing the documentary about Dr. Sebi’s life and work. The Bowman family has been involved in the process. During the Rolling Out interview, they noted significant progress on the film and improvements in Nick Cannon’s own health after adopting a plant-based mineral approach.
The documentary matters — not as the center of a conspiracy, but as a vehicle for introducing Dr. Sebi’s actual philosophy to people who have only heard the myths. When it reaches audiences, Kellie hopes they walk away thinking about what they eat, not how her father transitioned.
Eating to Live, Not for Enjoyment
This is where the Rolling Out interview shifted from myths to medicine — from what happened in the past to what you can do right now. Kellie’s advice was direct and unambiguous.
“The best thing you can do is change your diet and stay aware of what’s going on. Our immune system is stronger when we are eating to live and not for enjoyment.”Kellie Bowman — Rolling Out, February 2020
That distinction — eating to live versus eating for enjoyment — is the cornerstone of Dr. Sebi’s philosophy. It doesn’t mean food can’t taste good. It means the primary purpose of what you put in your body should be nourishment, not entertainment. When you eat to put nutrients in your body to fuel you and keep your body strong, everything changes.
Dr. Sebi built his entire approach around one foundational idea: the cell is the foundation of life. Feed the cell properly, and the body knows what to do. Deprive it — with processed foods, refined sugars, synthetic chemicals — and the body struggles. Not because it’s broken. Because it’s starving at the cellular level despite the fact that you’re eating three meals a day.
Stop using GMOs and Sugars. Start eating to fuel your cells, not to satisfy a craving. Dr. Sebi’s philosophy is not a fad diet — it is a way of understanding the relationship between what you consume and how every cell in your body functions. Kellie and Izeah carry that philosophy into every product, every consultation, and every conversation.

Carrying the Legacy Forward — Two Generations Deep
One of the most striking things about the Rolling Out interview is that it featured two generations of Dr. Sebi’s family sitting side by side. Kellie, his daughter. Izeah, his grandson. Both practitioners. Both carrying the work forward in their own ways.
Kellie runs Sebi’s Daughters — a wellness brand built on Dr. Sebi’s original formulations, nurse-led oversight, and the same wildcrafted sourcing standards her father established in Honduras. Every product traces back to his philosophy. Every formulation follows his standards. No fillers. No synthetic ingredients. No compromises.
Izeah, a certified nutritionist and trainer, built his own practice — Dietary Resolutions — focused on working directly with clients to implement plant-based, mineral-rich nutrition plans. He started healing at 17, trained under the family’s methodology, and brings Dr. Sebi’s framework into hands-on client work every day.
Together, they represent something the conspiracy theorists always miss: you cannot silence a philosophy that lives in the next generation. Dr. Sebi transitioned. His work did not. It is growing. It is reaching new communities. And it is being carried by people who understand it from the inside out — because they lived it before they ever taught it.
We’re not trying to reinvent what our father built. We’ve been protecting it, pushing it forward, to make sure it reaches the people who need it. This was never meant to end with me. It was never meant to end with him. The plants don’t stop growing because one person is gone.
Start Your Own Reset
If the Rolling Out interview moves you — if you hear Kellie say “change your diet” and feel something click — the 10-Day Mini Cleanse Kit is where that change becomes real. It is not a juice fast. It is not a restriction plan. It is a 10-day protocol built on three of Dr. Sebi’s foundational formulations, designed to support your body’s own cleansing and rebuilding processes.
The kit includes Bush Bitters (the cellular cleanser), Honduran Green Chlorophyll Capsules (the blood oxygenator), and Seamoss Capsules (the mineral rebuilder). All three are 100% plant-based, alkaline-approved, and aligned with Dr. Sebi’s African Bio-Mineral Balance. Ten days. Three products working together. The same philosophy Kellie and Izeah shared on Rolling Out, bottled and ready.
10-Day Mini Cleanse Kit — the same foundational reset that Kellie recommends when people ask her where to start. Bush Bitters, Chlorophyll, and Seamoss working together.
All plant-based. Zero fillers. Alkaline-approved. Follow the protocol for 10 consecutive days and let the three products build on each other. This is how you stop talking about change and start living it.
SHOP THE 10-DAY MINI CLEANSE KIT →Take all three products daily for 10 consecutive days.
